Vuelta a Espana (16th stage) Geoffrey Bouchard best climber

Geoffrey Bouchard : “So happy”

“We had 51 kilometers before hitting the first climb, and I really thank my fantastic AG2R LA MONDIALE teammates for putting me in position and protecting me. I managed to get into the breakaway after a big fight, and only Madrazo was dangerous for me in the front. By taking twenty points on both passes, I was confident enough for the finish. Wearing this jersey is such an honor; it is my first success among the professionals, but it is far from finished. Does the hard part start with wearing this jersey? I do not know. It will be important to take some time to recover, and the rest day will be a big help there. Then it will be time to make plans to try to defend the jersey.”GEOFFROY BOUCHARD

After sixteen stages of the Vuelta a Espana, Geoffrey Bouchard has 50 points in the King of the Mountain classification. He leads Angel Madrazo by six points.

Second best climber jersey

After Romain Bardet, the King of the Mountains at the Tour de France, Geoffrey Bouchard is the second rider from the AG2R LA MONDIALE team to wear this distinctive jersey at a Grand Tour this season.
