UAE Tour: Fractured wrist for Pierre Latour
Preparing to race the UAE Tour, Pierre Latour crashed this morning in training. “He suffered a fracture of his left wrist (scaphoid and lower radius), and will be operated on once he returns to France. He will likely be unavailable for at least six weeks,” explained Dr. Eric Bouvat, medical director of the AG2R La Mondiale. Pierre Latour will be replaced by Aurelien Paret-Peintre.
For his first day of back at racing, Alexis Vuillermoz took 5th place at the end of the first stage of the Tour du Haut Var.
Romain Bardet took 13th place. The two riders crashed but without any ill effects on the slippery descent of the Tanneron. Mikaël Chérel also crashed and banged up his left elbow. “I gained some reference points on my form, even if it is not optimal. I was missing a little oomph in the sprint, but I gave it 100%. Unfortunately, Romain and I crashed on the last descent. The road was very wet and slippery,” Alexis Vuillermoz said.
