ROMAIN BARDET : « I’m satisfied »
2nd in the general classification 8th on the stage.
“I am satisfied with this second place. After a difficult 2019 season, I’m going to the races to have fun. I had good feelings. To reach the top of the climb with Nairo Quintana for my first race back in Europe, I definitely would have signed up for that at the start. I felt I was fit enough, but I still had to prove it on the road. I feel like I have progressed well in three days. These were very intense days with a very high level of riders within. I hope to continue in this way and have a good start to March.”ROMAIN BARDET
NANS PETERS : « Bodes well for the futur »
2nd of the stage
“I went in the breakaway, and it was an interesting group, with quite a few teams represented. We worked well together. I made the effort on the first ramp of Mont Faron to come back to Julien Bernard. I joined him, but he was stronger than me in the end. I’m happy because I only started racing again at the Tour de la Provence last week, and with uncertainties linked to the mononucleosis I contracted during the winter. I had no benchmarks and so, it bodes well with Paris-Nice coming in 15 days.”NANS PETERS
Romain Bardet took second place in the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var in 2019. He will be participating next week at the Boucles Drôme Ardèche (February 29-March 1).
Vendrame 10th at UAE Tour
Andrea Vendrame took tenth place in the first stage of the UAE Tour. "The goal is more tomorrow's stage. But with the good sensations that he had, and well guided by Quentin Jaurégui, he managed to take a good placing," directeur sportif Cyril Dessel explained.
