Clement Venturini : "Not unhappy with this podium"
“Having that crash at 115 kilometers upset our plans. It happened within the first 20 riders and I was afraid we’d take out the whole pack behind! I was a little sore everywhere, but I was at least able to get up and continue, unlike some of my teammates who were less lucky than I was. I never hid the fact that I was here to race for the win, but given how the race unfolded, I am not unhappy with this podium. Now I hope that I can recover well, and that I will be able to make the most of my chances at the Circuit de la Sarthe next week (April 9-12). I have been hovering around a victory for a few weeks now, and I hope it will not be too much longer in coming.”CLEMENT VENTURINI
4 RIDERS IN THE CRASH
Samuel Dumoulin, François Bidard, Clément Venturini and Benoit Cosnefroy were all caught up in a mass crash at kilometer 115 at the Route Adélie. "Benoit is the most affected. The X-rays did not show a fracture. He is suffering from a contusion in the pelvis, though. He will do a test on the bike tomorrow afternoon which will determine how his program will continue,” explained Eric Bouvat, medical director of the AG2R LA MONDIALE team
