Benoit Cosnefroy : “The longest kilometer of my life”
“I really wanted to have fun today. For two weeks, I felt that the form has been there. I attacked from far out.
It was not necessarily planned like that at the start of the day, and the result was far from assured. Sometimes you just have to try, and this time, it worked! This is not my first victory as a professional.
I had already won the Grand Prix d’Isbergues in 2017, but today it is more powerful. I am in my home region, I heard my name shouted all day on the side of the road.
A large part of my family was there, so I am really happy to have managed to finish off the hard work. In the end, I managed to bridge up to Kevin Geniets two kilometers from the finish. I know him well; we raced together at Chambéry Cyclisme Formation. With a kilometer to go, I attacked, and I think that was the longest kilometer of my life. But it was worth it!”BENOIT COSNEFROY
Quentin Jauregui (3rd) : “Can’t miss this opportunity"
"After Alexis Gougeard's victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe, we have had another great day. In the end, I told Benoît that we should not miss this opportunity. We had a lot of fun, and it's very nice to be on the podium by his side.”QUENTIN JAUREGUI
Benoît Cosnefroy’s victory is the fourth for the AG2R LA MONDIALE team this season. Before him, Alexis Gougeard won the 3rd stage and the overall classification of the Circuit de la Sarthe. And Alexis Vuillermoz won the Royal Bernard Drôme Classic.
