Mikael Cherel : “Looking forward to getting back to racing”

Brussels Cycling Classics (Sept. 2nd) / Grand Prix Fourmies (Sept. 3rd)

I crashed training in the Sierra Nevada on May 25th. I cannot wait to get back to racing because my break since then has been longer than a winter break. I have not raced since the end of the Tour de Romandie on April 30th, so I really want to be at the start of this race. I feel very good. On Tuesday I went for a six and a half hour training ride.
I was able to start training again at the end of July, after the Tour de France.
For my return to racing, I want to progress enough to be able to perform well by the end of the season. Talking it over with the management, we have agreed that I will race a lot till the end of the season with the Italian races as my main objectives.
I have had to drag my brakes for three months, and now I want to finish 2017 on a good note. Saturday’s race may be difficult for me, but I really want to be in the breakaway on Sunday.
It has been a difficult time. Even more disappointing than not being able to race the Tour, it was a real blow when I was also unable to take the start at the Vuelta.
A second hairline fracture had not initially been detected in my pelvis, so I had to stop training again for a time.
But now I am all healed and am really happy to be able to get back on the road.Mikael Cherel
