DEUTSCHLAND TOUR: Bardet and Vuillermoz are back

Romain Bardet : "An ideal race to return to competition"

"Like every year after the Tour de France, I needed to take a break, to relax with my family and friends in order to recover mentally and physically following three very trying weeks. The only race I did was the Critérium de Marcolès, which gives me the chance every year to meet with the fans from my home region. After a few days break, I got back to training with a lot of enthusiasm, and very motivated to attack the final part of the season. I topped off my return with a training camp in the high mountains. I am very happy to be participating in the Deutschland Tour, which is a new event this year. The profile of the race is perfect to kick off racing again. It’s an interesting route, and it is always nice to discover new roads and regions. The big goal at the end of the season will be the World Championships in Innsbruck. In August, I did a recon of the course. It is a beautiful route, very inspiring. In order to be ready for this important race, I will alternate between specific races and training camps, including spending time at the National Center of Nordic Skiing at Prémanon (Centre National de Ski Nordique et de Montagne de Prémanon).” Romain Bardet
