Alexis Gougeard : "Right off the blackboard"
""Days like today, we would like to have more often! Everything went as planned in the briefing, it was exactly as on the blackboard! I have been feeling that for a few days that my sensations were good. At the Volta Catalunya in March I felt strong, and since the Route Tourangelle, I saw that my form makes it possible for me to do some good things! In the final today,
I was pretty calm. If it ended in a sprint, I knew that Quentin Jaurégui would be in a position to win. I had not actually won a race since the Polynormande in 2017 and I sincerely missed the feeling! There is still one more stage to get through, but that is not an easy stage. But we are all super motivated to defend this jersey and to win the Circuit de la Sarthe. After that, it will be time to join our friends in Paris-Roubaix.”"ALEXIS GOUGEARD
Alexis Gougeard’s victory, which is his 9th as a professional, is the second win for the AG2R LA MONDIALE team this season. Before him, Alexis Vuillermoz won the Royal Bernard Drôme Classic.
