NICO DENZ : “I FEEL REALLY STRONG”
“In the end, Mohoric showed that he was stronger than me. He deserves this victory. There is nothing else to say about it. I have now finished second in a stage of the Giro d’Italia, my best result at a UCI WorldTour race, but I am disappointed to be so close. Since the beginning of the race, I have felt really strong. This morning, during the briefing, I was assured that it was the right time to try something. The stage was very fast all day, but I felt that the sensations were really good. So I figured it’s now or never.”NICO DENZ

“We had a crazy day. In the last 30 kilometers, even with Mohoric, who is one of the best descenders in the peloton, Nico Denz was able to close the 20 second gap that Mohoric had on him. That was a big performance. For several days Nico has been going very well, and he told us so. In the end, he nearly made it happen. He did not make one mistake. He certainly proved his worth today. We are getting closer to a victory; the spirit is certainly there. The feeling and atmo in the group is excellent. We’re nearing the Holy Grail. Mathias Frank 7th in Tour of California
After two days of racing, Mathias Frank is in 7th place at the Tour of California. “I was very well protected and helped all day by my teammates. In the end, it was up to me to finish it off. There are still some difficult stages, and a bit of work to do before finalizing the overall standings.”
